A-Z Backlog challenge: Banner Saga

Banner Saga combines a choose your own adventure style visual novel with tactical battles. The story has a Viking legend setting and the story alternates between you controlling two caravans containing various heroes as well as a number of Varl, fighters and other men. One of the caravans sees Varl (Giant humanoids) accompanying the human prince to the Varl capital to make an alliance against the monstrous dredge who are moving south to threaten all as they had done in the past. You are introduced to a lot of characters very quickly and I feel this takes a bit away from building a connection with them. The second caravan is a more personal story. Here we meet a hunter, Rook and his daughter who find dredge close to and later attacking their home town. They lead survivors across the continent in search of a safe place to resettle. A-Z backlog challenge 2017- Alpha Protocol

Like last year when I started with Alien vs Predator I've gone with another FPS to kick things off. Alpha Protocol sees you play a spy for a shadowy government agency. You are sent to look into links between arms companies and terrorist organisations. I'm sure it will surprise no one to find you will be betrayed and end up fighting for your life against that very agency. Taking inspiration from Deus Ex, Alpha protocol has some RPG elements and as you gain xp you can gain levels in various weapons skills such as shotguns and rifles as well as engineering and hacking. You will also be able to improve your weapons as you make money during missions. The graphics are not too bad but the levels are not very well designed. The outdoor locations are particularly linear and the enemy ai is not very smart. The only real challenge is the poor controls with the camera moving erratically from time to time. The minigames for hacking computer systems, turning off alarms an
